For 's character project.

Just in time for the new Pokemon rush I am making.... Sailor Moon art...

I volunteered to fill Jadeite's space for the project, only to later remember how much I hate doing purely traditional drawings now. Couple that with the fact that I left my scanner at school for the break and you have one messy upload.

Ah well, the process went better than expected. I did the Mucha-esque background on a different page (in order to get that nice jade effect without ironically destroying Jadeite himself) and then cut the boys out to put on top. I enhanced things a bit on photoshop to distinguish the layers, but for the most part this was all done traditionally.

As for his Golden Kingdom outfit I had little to no reference for Jadeite's costume, so I pulled in parts that I liked about Malachite's costume and parts I've seen cosplayers use. I also felt his katana/broad sword combo was appropriate given that Jadeite was the general of Asia (even though his costume and appearance denote European flair). In addition, Mars' mandala in the back plays on Jadeite's role as a Heavenly King (a guardian of direction in Buddhism) as her mandala has the characters of different cardinal directions (as specific to Buddhism... Which is interesting considering she is a shinto miko).

I also apologize- I wrote JEDITE and not Jadeite on the finished work. I like his manga name much better, but for some reason the American dub snuck in on me when I was inking the name. Mea culpa.
